COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Groveport man was sentenced to at least 14 years in prison after pleading guilty to raping two young girls, according to Franklin County Court of Common Pleas records.

Court documents say Robert Burns changed his plea from not guilty to guilty. He was charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexually oriented matter.

Burns was sentenced to 14 to 17.5 years in prison. He will also be required to register as a Tier III sex offender.

Records say a family went to the Groveport Police Department in May 2023 to file a report on a sexual offense that happened.

One of the victims reportedly told officers that she and another girl were waiting for school when Burns asked them to play truth or dare.
