Opposition Leader Sussan Ley has urged the Prime Minister to change tack on “disaster” environmental reform plans which, she claimed, would be a “red light” for jobs.
The Labor government is tipped to introduce the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act by the end of 2025, rather than mid-2026.
The government says the revision will allow for more transparency in decisions taken, faster and simpler approvals processes, and greater environmental protections.
However Ms Ley said the Coalition held “serious concerns” about parts of the draft revisions.
In a letter penned to Mr Albanese, Ms Ley said “we can all agree the current system is not delivering”.
