Pope Leo XIV on Sunday called on the Church to be united and inclusive.
“No one should impose their own ideas; we must all listen to one another. No one is excluded; we are all called to participate. No one possesses the whole truth; we must all humbly seek it - and seek it together," the pontiff said.
The appeal came during the celebration of the Mass for the Jubilee of Synodality inside St. Peter’s Basilica, which involved the Synodal Teams and other participatory bodies of the Church.
The call came after a day that encapsulated the Church’s ongoing effort to hold together its diverse sensibilities.
On Saturday, the traditional Latin Mass was once again celebrated, presided over by conservative American Cardinal Raymond Burke.
That same day, however, the Synodal Assembly voted to approve a document endorsing greater openness toward the LGBTQ+ community.
At the end of Mass, the Holy Father led the Angelus in St. Peter’s Square, at the conclusion of which he prayed for victims of recent flooding in east-central Mexico that left at least 76 dead.
