A 64-year-old Metairie man died after he crashed his car on West Judge Perez Drive in Arabi on Saturday afternoon, according to the Louisiana State Police.

Scott Sanders was driving a 2025 Hyundai Palisade north on Judge Perez just after noon when he veered off the road near Schnell Drive and collided with a billboard's steel support pillar, State Police said.

Sanders, who wasn't wearing a seatbelt, died later at a local hospital, according to State Police.

Police said they do not believe Sanders was intoxicated at the time of the crash but investigators gathered routine toxicology samples. The crash remains under investigation, police said.
