CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A second victim has died following a violent crime spree in Charlotte that ended with police fatally shooting a suspect who kidnapped a woman and fired at officers during a chase, authorities said Sunday.
Shabazz Mesiah Grant, 34, died Sunday at a local hospital from injuries sustained in the Thursday shooting, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
The incident began around 4 p.m. Thursday when officers responded to reports of multiple shots fired on North Hoskins Road near Brookshire Boulevard in northwest Charlotte. Police found Grant and Justin Westbrooks Carlton with gunshot wounds. Carlton, 38, died at the hospital on Thursday.
