Manitowoc (WFRV) - It’s not often a high school record book needs to be rewritten. But thanks to Natalie Portman, Manitowoc Lincoln’s is getting a full edit.

Portman has shattered the girls’ 5K cross country record four times this season, with her fastest finish — 18 minutes, 39 seconds. The previous record had stood since 2014, the year Wisconsin officially set 5K as the girls’ race distance.

“Nattalie is a really coachable kid,” said Lincoln head Cross Country coach Michael Bubolz. “She’s a junior now, and it’s been really fun to get to know her and watch her evolve in the sport.”

From her freshman year, Portman has been a standout for the Ships. But this fall, her focus and consistency have pushed her to new heights.
