I’ve been reading A.E. Hotchner’s memoir Papa Hemingway . Hotchner was a publishing executive who became friends with the writer during Hemingway’s final years, and we hear how “Papa” regarded movies adapted from his stories. He didn’t like ’em .

Except for the 1946 film The Killers , based on his 1927 short story . Hemingway praised this adaptation, calling it “a good picture and the only good picture ever made of a story of mine.”
