Santa Fe police on Sunday arrested Chester Lemarc Patrick Gutierrez, 45, a man with a history of violence who is suspected of fatally stabbing another man Saturday evening.
Police responded around 4:45 p.m. Saturday to reports of a “man down” near the intersection of Cerrillos and Rodeo roads, Deputy Chief Ben Valdez wrote in a news release. Officers found Reynaldo Corado-Medina, 32, of Santa Fe with at least one stab wound to the chest.
After initial aid from police, Santa Fe Fire Department paramedics took Corado-Medina to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries, Valdez wrote.
Emergency alerts indicate an investigation shut down lanes of traffic at the busy south-side intersection for hours Saturday.
Police continued to search for Gutierrez until about 3 a.m. Sunday morning
