NORMAL, Ill (WMBD) - Normal West boys soccer survived an upset bid from Metamora in a 2A regional title game on Friday, winning 1-0 in overtime.
It's a program that has been hungry for a deep postseason run. This was just their second regional title in the past 11 years.
Now the Wildcats are looking to advance further than any other team in school history, and Normal West feels they've got the right young men for the job.
"We haven't won a regional in three years, I've never won a regional in my time here at West. We wanted it so bad, and I was just in the right place right time. The team played amazing. We're looking at a big sectional. West has never won a sectional in their career, so we're looking for a big sectional win coming up here soon."
