JASPER, Ind. (WFIE) - The Indiana State Police say one of their K-9 officers passed away suddenly on Saturday.

Troopers say K-9 “Barker” was found dead due to unforeseen medical reasons, and no foul play is suspected.
ISP says Barker was a loyal partner to Trooper Jacob Lauer, and served as a dual-purpose K-9, trained in both patrol duties and narcotics detection.

According to a news release, Barker assisted in numerous criminal investigations, narcotics seizures, suspect apprehensions, and community demonstrations.
Officials say his work helped keep communities safer and strengthened the bond between law enforcement and the public.
