TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — As the weather gets colder, you’ll want to bundle up, and an organization wants to make sure kids stay warm.
Coats for Kids is a program put on by the Knights of Columbus that started in 2009 and gives out 200,000 new coats each year to children in need nationwide.
The local Knights of Columbus chapter in Twin Falls gives, on average, 100 to 200 each year. The need has remained consistent over the years.
Grand Knight Jerry Burns said this program is important to local families.
“I’ve seen kids almost cry because they got a new coat. I’ve seen parents just thank us over and over for the fact that they could not afford a coat this year. And that’s what we’re doing, we’re just trying to do some good in the community,” Burns said.
