BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —
This year’s Magic City Classic is in the books, and tens of thousands of fans were in Birmingham, cheering on the Alabama State University Hornets and the Alabama A&M University Bulldogs. Football fans celebrated culture and tradition and enjoyed some good food and fun along the way.
While most people say they had a safe and enjoyable experience at the game and tailgate, rumors of a shooting started swirling on social media.
WVTM 13 got reports of people running near the tailgate area. Because fans didn’t know what was happening, people said they turned around to run away from the perceived danger through tents. Some people said they heard gunshots, while others said they didn’t.
