Edinburgh's first purpose-built concert hall in over a century has reached a significant milestone with the signing of the construction contract, following a £40 million funding boost.
The Dunard Centre will see construction start within weeks after the £162 million main construction contract was signed with Balfour Beatty.
Dubbed as the "hall for all", it will be erected on the recently cleared site behind the historic Royal Bank of Scotland branch on St Andrew Square and is projected to be completed by 2029.
The 1,000-seat hall will host a variety of music genres and will serve as a permanent home for the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, as well as a new venue for the Edinburgh International Festival.
The contract signing follows an in-principle pledge of an additional £20 million in fund
