New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the launch of a nationwide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter lists. The Chief of EC, Gyanesh Kumar , addressed the press conference on Monday, October 27.

12 states will undergo the voter list revision exercise in phase 1, followed by 12 states and the Union Territories in the second phase. Phase 2 will be purely based on the findings of the first phase.

The ECI chief highlighted the issue that political parties have raised questions about the quality of the electoral rolls on numerous occasions.
