AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas quarterback Arch Manning left the game after taking a hard hit on the first play of overtime in the Longhorns' 45-38 win over Mississippi State on Saturday.

Manning's head hit the field after the tackle and was helped off the field. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said in the postgame press conference that he didn't have an update on his quarterback's status.

"We'll find out more when we get back to Austin," he said.

Manning decided to tuck the ball and run when he couldn't find an open receiver, and he had some open space in the middle of the field. Two Mississippi State defenders, Isaac Smith and Kedrick Bingley-Jones, closed in to make the stop, with Smith making the first contact that sent Manning airborne.

Bingley-Jones then hit Manning from behind, causing
