SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - More than 48 grams of methamphetamine were found inside a fake oil can during a traffic stop in Springfield Township.

The driver was pulled over at 11:39 a.m. Sunday after Officer Jon McKenzie and his K9 partner Rex saw the driver of a Dodge Ram committing multiple traffic violations on Massillon Road near Krumroy Road, said police.

During the stop, police said the driver, Robert Butterbaugh, 49, of Norton, denied consent to search the vehicle.

K9 Rex was sent out for an open-air search and police said K9 Rex gave “positive indication for narcotics on the driver’s side of the truck.’

Police said they found the fake oil can during their search.

Officers said drug paraphernalia, pills, and packaging materials were also found in Butterbaugh’s vehicle.
