Motorists are being warned of two weeks of overnight closures on the M8 to allow for footbridge cleaning.
Trunk road operator BEAR Scotland are set to carry out the works on the Harthill Footbridge from tonight, Monday, October 27.
As a result, the M8 will be closed westbound from 8.30pm until 6am between junctions 5 and 4a until Friday, October 31.
Next week, from Monday, November 3 until Friday, November 7, a similar closure will be in place on the eastbound carriageway.
A one-mile diversion will be in place via the B7066 and the B7057 during the closures.
Originally built in the 1970s, the Harthill Footbridge was erected at the first motorway service station in Scotland after the completion of the M8.
