TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ( WBRC ) -Tuscaloosa city leaders hope the newest addition to the Police Athletic League (PAL) will create more opportunities for events, as well as bring police closer to youth in the community.
Outdoor basketball courts are now open to kids who are members of the Tuscaloosa Police Academy Athletic League.
City leaders, police and kids in the PAL program attended a dedication ceremony for the new courts, which include four goals and sit across the street from the PAL Gym.
They’re part of the city’s plan to engage more citizens in the city through organized sports.
More indoor and outdoor tournaments are some of the events that will be hosted there in the future.
Police chief Brent Blankley believes they also serve other purposes.
