A 32-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a 20-year-old Indian-origin woman in a racially aggravated attack in UK's Walsall, West Midlands Police said on Monday.

The woman, in her 20s, was allegedly sexually assaulted in West Midlands on Saturday night. As per the police, the attacks on the woman were carried out because of her racial identity. The woman was assaulted in the Park Hall area.

The suspect was detained around 7am on Monday morning in Perry Barr, Walsall, West Midlands Police said, The Sun reported.

He is currently in custody and being questioned by the cops.

The force said the victim had suffered an "absolutely appalling attack", and was being supported by specially trained officers, the Sun reported. - Ends
