Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on Monday said there would be no hurdle in carrying out the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voters' list in West Bengal despite opposition from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and threats of "bloodbath" by Trinamool Congress leaders if the exercise is held in the state.

The poll body's statement came as West Bengal is among the 12 states and Union Territories where the SIR will be carried out. The state will go to the polls next year.

Speaking at a press conference in Delhi to announce the SIR of electoral rolls in 12 states, including West Bengal, Kumar said all states were constitutionally obliged to provide the Election Commission with personnel to carry out the exercise.
