NEW ORLEANS — Louisiana State Rep. Julie Emerson, R-Carencro, announced her candidacy for the U.S. Senate, challenging incumbent Sen. Bill Cassidy.

“I’m running for the United States Senate because Louisiana deserves a senator who can lead, deliver, and help rebuild America’s confidence,” Emerson said in a press release announcing her campaign run. “For the first time in years, the future feels brighter than the past.”

At 37 years old, Emerson chairs the Louisiana House Ways and Means Committee and has sponsored legislation, including tax reforms, the LA GATOR private school program, and the shift to a closed party primary system.

Emphasizing her legislative record, she pledged to deliver results on infrastructure, jobs, and policymaking.
