Cameroon’s Constitutional Council declared President Paul Biya the winner of the nation’s latest election, further extending the rule of the 92-year-old leader—the world’s oldest sitting president—after more than four decades in power.

Monday's announcement followed a weekend of unrest in which at least four protesters were killed during clashes with security forces. Demonstrations erupted across major cities as opposition supporters demanded credible results.
