PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man is dead after an incident in north Phoenix on Monday morning.

Just after 2:30 a.m., first responders were called to an apartment near 19th Avenue and Dunlap Avenue on reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found four adults inside a unit who said their friend had been making suicidal statements and accidentally shot himself, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

All four people were detained before police entered the apartment and found the unresponsive man, who was pronounced dead shortly after. He has not been identified.

Detectives have responded to investigate. The nature of the ongoing investigation is unknown.
