The Boston Red Sox pulled the trigger on a massive transaction that seemed to ignite a surge in the standings this season, so they might not be shy about making some more major changes this winter.

After trading away franchise slugger Rafael Devers, the Red Sox cleared some significant payroll and opened up the need for a big bat in the infield. And with third baseman Alex Bregman planning to opt out of his contract, their team could look very different at the start of next season.

Writing for Bleacher Report, Tim Kelly predicted that the Red Sox will bring in New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso via free agency and that will ultimately mean they move on from Bregman.
