INDIANAPOLIS (WPTA) - An Indiana State Police (ISP) spokesperson says investigators are looking for help locating two tortoises they say were recently stolen from the Indianapolis Zoo .
ISP’s Capitol Police Section is investigating the incident. Police say the theft happened sometime between 10 a.m. on Oct. 11 and 10 a.m. on Oct. 12.
Both reptiles, an Egyptian tortoise and a Northern Spider tortoise , are currently listed as critically endangered species.
Both are microchipped, and police note that the Egyptian tortoise has a prominent scar on its underside.
