As many as 28 fishing trawlers have been stranded in the sea near Gopalpur in Ganjam district due to rough sea conditions triggered by the impact of Cyclone 'Montha' on Monday.
As per reports, the trawlers have been unable to sail towards Andhra Pradesh because of the high tides and turbulent sea surface.
Meanwhile, with fishermen on board the stranded vessels, the district administration has requested immediate rescue operations. In response, the Gopalpur Port authorities initiated efforts to bring all the trawlers safely to shore.
A large vessel from the Gopalpur Port ventured into the sea to assist in the rescue mission. Efforts were underway to tow all 28 trawlers back to Gopalpur Port.
