Brian Kelly is going to be handed a lot of money for years to come just to stop coaching the LSU Tigers.
LSU fired head football coach Brian Kelly on Sunday night after the team’s third loss in four games. The pairing simply did not work out as the football program did not excel under his leadership.
The final straw came after the Tigers were destroyed 49-25 by Texas A&M. The powers-to-be decided to part ways with the 64-year-old head coach in the middle of his fourth season in Baton Rouge.
“When Coach Kelly arrived at LSU four years ago, we had high hopes that he would lead us to multiple SEC and national championships during his time in Baton Rouge,” LSU athletic director Scott Woodward said in a statement released by the school.
