BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- Frank Wilson was named as LSU football's interim coach after head coach Brian Kelly was fired Sunday night.
Athletics Director Scott Woodward said a national search for a permanent head coach would start immediately. In the meantime, New Orleans native Wilson will lead the Tigers.
Here are three facts to know about Wilson.
#1: He was hired to LSU's coaching staff by Kelly
Wilson was already serving on the Tigers' staff as associate head coach and running backs coach before being named interim head coach. Soon after Kelly was hired as head coach, he hired Wilson in December 2021. Before, Wilson served as running backs coach and recruiting coordinator from 2010-15.
#2: He coached many who were selected in the NFL Draft
