One person was found dead inside a trailer that had caught fire early Monday, Amarillo officials said, and the incident is being investigated as possible arson and a suspicious death.

The Amarillo Police Department said officers dispatched about 4:53 a.m. Oct. 27 to Northwest 5th and Lamar for a reported trailer fire found an RV trailer was fully engulfed in flames.

Police officers began securing the scene and evacuating neighboring homes until crews from the fire department arrived to put out the fire. Once the fire was extinguished, firefighters went into the structure and found a dead person inside.
