At 2-1, the Minnesota Timberwolves have had a strong early start to the 2025-2026 NBA season. And on Monday night, they will reignite one of the NBA's best and most heated current rivalries with Nikola Jokić's Denver Nuggets on Peacock. Unfortunately for the Timberwolves, they might be without their best and most impactful player for the heavyweight fight in primetime.

Perennial All-Star shooting guard Anthony Edwards left a Sunday game against the Indiana Pacers early with hamstring tightness. With the Timberwolves on a back-to-back against Denver, Minnesota might not want to risk the long-term health of its franchise talisman so early in a still very young season.

As we all know, hamstring injuries can be very tricky for any regular person, let alone an athletic, high-level basketball player like Edwards. That seems to be the Timberwolves' calculation as they have officially ruled out Edwards for two weeks with a hamstring strain:

Needless to say, Edwards' absence could be a big deal against a new-look Nuggets team that already looks like an offensive juggernaut. The star guard was arguably the biggest reason behind Minnesota's recent dominance over Denver. Entering Monday night, the Timberwolves have won eight of their last 11 games against the Nuggets, which includes an epic seven-game playoff series victory in 2024 and a regular-season sweep last year.

Of course, Minnesota isn't going to throw in the towel against one of its biggest rivals even without Edwards, so Denver better be ready. There's a reason this early-season Monday night game is so highly anticipated between two of the West's best teams, to say the least.
