GREENVILLE — Former Sheriff Chuck Wright was ordered to enter any drug abuse treatment program recommended by the U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services office after his first appearance in federal court on Oct. 27.
He’s the 18th South Carolina sheriff to face criminal charges since 2010.
Federal magistrate judge William Brown also told Wright and his two codefendants, former sheriff’s office employee Lawson Watson and Chaplain Amos Durham, that one of the standard conditions for bond was that they could not have any guns in their homes.
The three were in court for their arraignment after agreeing last month to plead guilty to a handful of federal criminal charges. Wright, Durham and Watso received a $25,000 unsecured bond.
The charges are related to Wright and Durham raiding the sheriff
