MAXTON — The investigation into a mass shooting early Saturday morning at a Halloween party near Maxton which left two people dead and 11 people injured remains ongoing, the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office said Monday afternoon.

The department is “working around the clock to identify witnesses and all individuals involved and ensure justice is served,” a press release states.

“I ask that the public please be patient as we continue to work alongside state and federal agencies to bring those responsible for this horrific act to justice,” Sheriff Burnis Wilkins said Monday. “This investigation is complex in that multiple witnesses are being identified, victims who remain hospitalized must be interviewed for forensiv evidence will have to be carefully analyzed.
