LSU football has fired coach Brian Kelly .

The Tigers decided to move on from the former Notre Dame coach Sunday night after less than four years in Baton Rouge. The firing came on the heels of LSU's 49-25 loss to Texas A&M on Saturday, marking the team's third loss in four games.

Kelly's departure comes before an offseason where LSU was going to need to rebuild much of its roster. Fifth-year senior quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, senior cornerback Mansoor Delane and redshirt junior linebacker Harold Perkins are just a handful of names that are set to head to the NFL after this season.

But with the transfer portal also set to open on Jan. 2, whoever LSU's next coach is must also worry about the possibility of key returning players departing the program.
