EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — The suspect in a September 21st shooting that injured an Evansville Police Officer will face charges related to a second shooting two days prior.
EPD said 18-year-old Jailani Chew will face charges related to a shots fired call in the 700 block of East Chandler Avenue on Sept. 19th.
Casing found from that scene helped officers connect the firearm from that shooting to the one on Sept. 21st at a gas station on Virginia Street near U.S. 41 that injured Officer Sam Taylor. Crew faces attempted murder and armed robbery along with other charges related to that shooting.
He will now face Criminal Recklessness for the Sept. 19th shooting. His warrant was served to him in Vanderburgh County Jail, where he remains held on one million dollar bond.
