WATERLOO, Iowa — Firefighters responded this morning to a fire at the Balkan Cafe building located at the intersection of Williston Avenue and Highway 218.

Smoke was billowing from the building upon their arrival. Waterloo Fire Rescue officials confirmed that the smoke originated from a grease fire on top of the stove.

The fire was contained to the stove area, and the restaurant was closed at the time. Employees from two nearby businesses were evacuated as a precaution.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
