MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas — A 20-year-old East Texas man accused of meeting a child online and sexually assaulting them was arrested last week.

Caleb Garcia, of Mount Pleasant, was charged with sexual assault of a child Thursday following an investigation, according to the Mount Pleasant Police Department.

On Oct. 18, officers were notified of a report about the sexual assault of a child. Garcia was identified as the suspect, and police learned Garcia and the victim initially met through social media.

Mount Pleasant police also learned that in March 2025, he was booked into the Smith County Jail for sexual assault of a child. On Oct. 23, officers got a warrant for his arrest and he was booked into the Titus County Jail without bond.
