Listen to Toronto Blue Jays ace Kevin Gausman speak and you’ll hear a thoughtful, mild-mannered, wise man.

That isn’t all that surprising for a 34-year-old now in his 13th year in the big leagues. What’s cool to see is how quickly he can change gears and get his game face on and be completely locked in when it’s time to take the mound every fifth day.

Before every start, Gausman can be seen making his way out of the bullpen while giving an eagle-like death stare to the opposing dugout, letting his prey know he’s coming. There is both a serenity and intensity to that gaze.
