Youth are the Future

Charles Fitzsimmons, a member of the Baha’is of Oxford-Perth and an organizer of the event, spoke about the role that youth can play in supporting the primary role of the UN, which is to be a peacemaker.

“Youth are the greatest source of hope to our planet,” said Fitzsimmons, quoting from UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

“If we look objectively at what has happened in the last 80 years, we’re not at the end of the trail of our harm. There have been 285 armed conflicts since the United Nations was formed in 1945 and the deaths in those conflicts are estimated between 40- and 60-million people, and that is a horrendous number.
