A Kingston man was killed Saturday night in a vehicle-pedestrian collision near Elgin, provincial police reported.

Officers with the Leeds County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded shortly after 9 p.m. to reports that a pedestrian was struck by a southbound sport utility vehicle.

The pedestrian, a 43-year-old man from Kingston, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said Sunday. The SUV driver was not injured.

The OPP’s East Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team was helping with the ongoing investigation, which included the OPP’s Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit (TCI), and an OPP collision reconstructionist.
