Millions of people who receive Personal Independence Payment (PIP) have been given a key update on when any rule changes are likely to be announced. The Labour Government had earlier been forced to shelve proposed cuts but is still considering reforms.

The DWP's Minister for Social Security and Disability has now assured claimants that eligibility criteria for PIP will not be revised this year. Sir Stephen Timms was responding to a question about the Motability scheme, which allows claimants to lease a new vehicle if they receive the higher mobility rate of the benefit.

He stated that the Government will refrain from making changes to the PIP criteria until he has completed a full review of the benefit. This is due to conclude by Autumn 2026, meaning PIP will not change bef
