PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A two-alarm fire broke out just before 2 a.m. Monday in North Portland.
Fire crews responded to a call at 1:55 a.m. in the industrial area of the St. Johns neighborhood, where a caller reported a large pile of wood was on fire. Upon arrival, they found a large pile of pallets and wood debris was burning at Jopp Wood Recycling.
Firefighters have responded to similar calls at the site in recent years, including another two-alarm blaze in April 2024. Because of their prior knowledge of the site, crews were able to quickly set up an aerial ladder, allowing them to reach deep-seated fire within the pile.
