YUBA CITY, Calif. — A traffic stop on Highway 99 near Obanion Road on Sunday led to the arrest of two people for walnut theft. According to the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped a vehicle and found over 200 pounds of walnuts inside.
According to a press release, deputies identified the suspects as 44-year-old Yvonne Desa and 45-year-old Dennis Martinez, both from Marysville. Martinez had two outstanding out-of-county warrants, and both had previous theft convictions. The deputies also found walnut rakes and pickers, tools commonly used for harvesting.
