NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A North Charleston man was arrested over the weekend after a domestic violence incident escalated into a standoff with police.
Officers with the North Charleston Police Department responded to a home on Eagle Lake Road around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, after a woman called saying a man had assaulted her and was armed with a gun.
Responding police tried to stop Corey Williams, 51, while he was leaving the scene, but he reversed his vehicle, ramming a patrol car before he jumped out and fled back inside the home.
A perimeter was set up, and a SWAT team responded, given Williams' threats and firearm access.
After a long period of negotiation, Williams surrendered.
Law enforcement searched the home and found 68.5 grams of suspected cocaine, 74 grams of marijuana,
