MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) — From bees to butterflies, the Town of Mount Pleasant is focusing on restoring biodiversity and strengthening resiliency in public spaces one garden at a time.
Mount Pleasant Water Works has rolled out a new Pollinator-Friendly Easement Program, designed to protect critical infrastructure while promoting long-term environmental sustainability.
Officials say the effort is part of a growing trend as more communities look for creative ways to protect the places they call home.
“One day we came out and a customer wanted to know what we were doing,” said Zackary Akinjobi, Site Restoration Manager for Mount Pleasant Water Works. “He was interested in putting in a pollinator garden, and we said sure. We created boundaries, formed a committee, established guidelines
