WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — The Warwick man who was pulled from his car by officers as it was sinking in Apponaug Cove has died, 12 News has learned.

Frank Davis, 71, passed away on Thursday, according to his obituary.

Officers rushed to Arnolds Neck Drive the night of Oct. 18 after receiving reports of a vehicle that had left the roadway and crashed into the water.

Police said three officers jumped into the water without hesitation to rescue Davis and were able to bring him to shore after blindly searching the submerged vehicle in the dark.

Investigators believe Davis suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash.

Davis, who was a self-employed shell fisherman, leaves behind his wife Linda and his two sons Frank and Cody.
