ARLINGTON, Texas — Jose Fernandez was named the new coach of the WNBA's Dallas Wings on Monday after spending the past 25 seasons leading the women's team at the University of South Florida.
The Wings made that announcement, and said the coach will be formally introduced Nov. 6.
Fernandez takes over a Wings team that has Paige Bueckers, the No. 1 overall draft pick last April who was the WNBA Rookie of the Year. The 53-year-old coach replaces Chris Koclanes , who was fired after going 10-34 in his only season with Dallas.
