Victor Mancini wasn’t going to be the story Tuesday at Rogers Arena .
However, he hoped to be a sidebar to the long-awaited, headline-grabbing and polarizing return of J.T. Miller as captain of the New York Rangers.
The potential-packed Mancini, who was part of the return that sent the former Vancouver Canucks centre packing in a multiplayer swap on Jan. 31 that also landed Filip Chytil and a 2025 first-round pick, was writing a pretty good story Sunday. Then it needed an edit.

Mancini was hurt late in a sequence where he did everything right. He used size, positioning, quick pivot and a poke-check
