WASHINGTON — Prince George's County Council members sent a letter to the CEO of the company that owns Shoppers. The grocery store chain announced it would be closing four Shopper Food Stores across the county.
Stores are scheduled to close in Laurel, College Park, Capitol Heights, and New Carrollton. The councilmembers want to hold a meeting with the grocery chain to discuss keeping the stores open.
"We, as Council Members representing District 1, District 3, District 7, and the whole of Prince George’s County, are very disappointed to hear the news that you are planning to close the Shoppers Food stores in Laurel, College Park, Capitol Heights, and New Carrollton.
