CHINA, Texas — A 68-year-old man from Liberty died Monday at an oilfield work site in China after being run over by the trailer of an 18-wheeler, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
On Tuesday, Guillermo Contreras, 68, of Liberty, was identified by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office as the man who died.
Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4 Judge Justin Chesson confirmed the man was pronounced dead at the scene on East Vera Avenue.
Captain Crystal Holmes with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened at an oil field site, not a business.
Holmes confirmed to 12news that the sheriff's office is the lead on the investigation. OSHA is investigating the industrial accident, according to Holmes.
