A person died after being rescued from a fire at a home in Philadelphia on Monday afternoon, according to the fire department .
Firefighters were called to a home on the 1100 block of E. Sharpnack Street in the East Mount Airy section of the city just after Noon on Oct. 27, officials said.

The crews found the fire burning in one of the home's bedrooms and were able to find one person inside and get them out, officials explained.
The rescued person was taken to a nearby hospital where they ultimately died from their injuries, according to the fire department.
A second person inside the home was able to escape the fire safely, officials said.
